Our Chapter

The purpose of our National Residence Hall Honorary chapter, and any NRHH chapter, really, is impact. The executive team has the sole mission of positively impacting the members of residence life and Iowa State University as a whole. After seeing the gap created when our chapter’s predecessors dissolved, passionate student leaders answered the call to action. Through recognition and service the impact that our chapter can have on the greater Iowa State community knows no bounds.

IRHA

The Inter-Residence Hall Association, or IRHA, is a student-run organization that represents on-campus student needs and holds free events for residents. Some events IRHA has hosted include Super Bowl watch parties, the Res Hall Ball, Fall Fest, and Res Hall Week. In addition to holding events, IRHA voices student needs and votes on housing and dining rates. IRHA also serves as the parent organization of Iowa State’s National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) chapter.

NACURH

The National Association of College and University Residence Halls Incorporated (NACURH) is an international organization made up of eight regions. The eight regions cover the entire United States and parts of Canada. NACURH brings together students who live in residence halls on college campuses to share ideas, resources, and best practices in order to improve their residential communities.

NRHH

The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) operates as an esteemed society under the umbrella of the Inter-Residence Hall Association (IRHA). NRHH is dedicated to facilitating recognition, promoting service events, and nurturing leadership growth among individuals who have made valuable contributions to the progress of university housing. Our dedication runs deep, extending to both the residents within the Iowa State Department of Residence and the broader Ames community. Our organizational efforts encompass a range of initiatives, including hosting campus cleanup events, collaborating closely with Reiman Gardens, and actively participating in meal packaging endeavors to address food insecurity. Central to our values is the belief in fostering a culture of leadership excellence within Iowa State’s Department of Residence. Our meetings serve as a dynamic forum where leaders can establish connections, engage in meaningful dialogue, and fortify their commitments to the communities they wholeheartedly serve. At our core, we hold a strong belief in honoring those who exemplify steadfast commitments to community improvement. This conviction materialized in the launch of “Rising Resident” in January 2023. Since its inception, this platform has been instrumental in facilitating over 500 expressions of gratitude across campus.
